Rev. Fr. Andrew Ulemu Kaufa, SMM, a Malawian Montfort Missionary, has been appointed Secretary General of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA). The appointment was announced during the closing of the 21st AMECEA Plenary Assembly.
Fr. Kaufa hails from Ganya Parish in the Diocese of Dedza. He previously served as Director of Luntha Television in Malawi for nine years before joining the AMECEA Secretariat in 2018. In September 2022, Pope Francis appointed Fr Kaufa as one of his Consulters in the Dicastery of Communication in the Vatican for five years.
