The Diocese of Dedza mourns the passing of a pillar of Sr. Luisa Dzikolidaya, who passed away this week. A daughter of Kapenuka village, Bembeke Cathedral, Sr. Luisa’s remarkable life spanned over nine decades, dedicated almost entirely to the service of God and His people.

Born on October 14, 1931, Sr. Luisa began her spiritual journey by professing her first vows in the Teresian Sisters congregation in 1950.
Sr. Luisa accepted the late Bishop Cornelius Chitsulo of Dedza’s request to help lay the groundwork for a new, diocesan congregation: the Presentation of the Virgin Mary Sisters.
In 2023, Sr Dzikolidaya was amongst several clergy, religious and lay who received certificates of recognition from Pope Francis for their untiring work in the church. Other recipients were late Fr Ignacio Mpando, late Fr Claude Boucher (Achisale) and late Sr Tekla Dziko.
From that moment until her peaceful passing, Sr. Luisa remained a steadfast member and guiding light of the Presentation Sisters. Her life was a living testament to the charism of the congregation she helped establish, marked by deep piety, tireless dedication, and a commitment to nurturing the faith community in the Diocese of Dedza.
We ask the faithful to keep Sr. Luisa and the Presentation Sisters in their prayers during this time of loss.
The burial will take place tomorrow, Friday, 5th December 2025.
